Kitchen Nightmares: Another Perspective

Kitchen Nightmares: Another Perspective

It looms before me every day. I cannot avoid it, despite how much I try. Whenever I am forced to enter its presence, I feel a hopelessness bordering on despair. I attempt to fight my aversion with every ounce of my being. I try to

Loving the Smell of Dirt

Loving the Smell of Dirt

I admit it. I love the smell of freshly-turned dirt. I love getting out in my yard and digging around in my gardens. Every year, nature amazes me anew. Short, cold and gray days slowly give way to longer, warmer, sunnier days. Every year, just

Janice Pockett, Missing Since July 26, 1973

Janice Pockett, Missing Since July 26, 1973

Take just a few seconds to think about how it would feel if someone you loved went missing and was never heard from again. I can’t even wrap my mind around what this would be like. The initial waiting and worrying. The days passing. The weeks passing. And suddenly the years are passing. And not a word. Not a sign. Not a clue.

Janice was last seen in Tolland, CT on the afternoon of July 26, 1973. She left home on her bicycle to retrieve a butterfly she had hidden under a rock a short distance from her house. She never returned.

This goes out to all of my fellow bloggers, Facebook followers and Twitter followers.   A plea to just share this story, this message. Somewhere, someone knows something.

Janice’s sister is a friend of mine. She continues to search for her sister almost 40 years later. 40 years. Can you imagine not knowing whatever happened to your sister or brother? Your son or your daughter? I can’t.

Janice’s story has been covered by a number of media outlets, including Nancy Grace. Though there have been leads along the way, the Pockett family has never found the conclusive answer they search for. Or their sister. Or their daughter.

Here is her Facebook page, which I encourage you to share.

I hope you can find it in your hearts to share Janice’s story and spread the word. One day, hopefully soon, this family will find the answers to the questions they’ve been asking for almost 4 decades.

Blessings and peace.
